Sally Higgins is a Charlotte, North Carolina, artist working in oil, encaustic, watercolor and mixed media.  After pursuing drama, music, photography, fiber arts and other creative endeavors all her life, Sally turned to painting 14 years ago.  She has taken courses at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation, Penland School of Craft, and Cullowee Arts, and has studied with remarkable teachers from Charlotte and around the country.

As a lawyer in the courtroom, Sally's profession is filled with words, and she embraces art to express what is better said without words. Taking inspiration from both the natural world and from the suggestions or distortions of familiar shapes, objects and writing on a page, she follows the push and pull of colors, forms, marks and edges.  Sally typically paints without an end destination in mind; her abstract paintings may come together energetically and spontaneously or they may evolve in layers laid down over a period of months or even years.

Sally is a proud member of StudioWorks Artist Collective + Gallery in Charlotte. More information about this vibrant group of artists and beautiful gallery space is available at https://www.studioworksgallery.com/.
